Elizabeth Cummings: A Carers Journey

In this episode Millie chats with Elizabeth Cummings. Elizabeth is a mental health advocate and writes and speaks about mental wellbeing and health topics including eating disorders. She is also a lived experience expert having been a carer for her daughter during her eating disorder recovery journey. She is currently completing a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is researching contemporary literature in the area of eating disorders as well as serving as a co-chair for the AED blog.

They discuss her own experience caring for a loved one with an eating disorder, the importance of self care for parents/carers, why it’s important that parents/carers don’t blame themselves for the development of an eating disorder and the impact that eating disorders can have on siblings.
